We could consider our training in Mindfulness as taking our brain to the gym. Our minds are highly developed, however you may be surprised to know that research has shown our minds have a negative bias, which can be unhelpful to our well-being. Training in mindfulness can retrain our minds from these unhelpful sometimes negative thinking patterns to more positive thinking patterns that can improve our well-being and happiness.
Mindfulness with practice can reduce stress and anxiety, increase happiness and well being. It has been shown that those who regularly practice mindfulness have greater emotional regulation and improved relationships at home and in the workplace as they develop techniques to deal with their busy lifestyle.
WHY IS THIS COURSE UNIQUE?
This course is unique as it is designed to suit any individual who may be wishing to improve their overall well-being and or to manage their stress or pain. The course content is based on the evidence of scientific research of the benefits of mindfulness and the theories of positive psychology.
Mindfulness courses were originally brought to the West by John Kabat Zinn as an intervention in a clinical setting to benefit those in severe pain. This course is not a clinical course as we believe there is a need for a thorough but less intensive course to suit the needs of most individuals. The course is primarily based on the work of Mark Williams and Danny Penman from the Mindfulness Centre at Oxford University. Their book Frantic World has been a best seller and is based on applying Cognitive Based therapy to Mindfulness. We like it because it speaks to ordinary people like us. We have adapted the course to include added extras from psychology and our own research and experience of practising mindfulness.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OUR MINDFULNESS COURSES AND MBSR or MBCT
Trainmymind offers mindfulness courses which are suitable to fit into the everyday lives of busy people who may be finding that life is very presurised in the modern day world. They do not necessarily need an intense clinical course but may need to learn to develop strategies such as learning to meditate to deal with stress and anxiety that many of us experience in our busy lives.
MBSR Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction is designed as a clinical course.
MBCT Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy is designed as a clinical course to primarily reduce depression
